也分享一下我在 IC design 外商觀察到這些巨擘怎麼建構出
難以撼動的競爭門檻:
1. 吸引全球人才
敝公司有不少印度人, 這些印度人除了部份是在美國唸名校
(史丹佛/卡內基美隆/etc) 後找到工作留下來, 另一部份是
拿到美國工作簽證後過來的. 基本上這些算印度在工程方面
的精英. 然後穿插一些會講英文的歐洲和美國白人. 當然華人
也不少, 但近年增幅比不上印度人
上海/台灣找的人也是以名校為主. 重點是各區域彼此都以
英文溝通, 讓人才來源不僅限於國內, 而是擴及全球
2. 高度尊重員工
上下班彈性, 可 work from home, 而且彼此溝通上多半只
針對工作, 較少針對個人或情緒性的發言.
當工作遇到瓶頸或不滿, 多半主管可以在職權內協助改善
3. 分工較細
以 CAD flow 為例, 廣義上 CAD team 就 > 150 人
以我對發哥的瞭解, 發哥的規模應該比這個小很多.
4. 對未來的技術和專利投入資源
請了不少博士在發專利和研究下一代技術, 台灣的博士多半
也是在做一些研究性質的工作, 令人意外的是, 我的同事名校博士
也不少, 他們也做一般 project 的工作.
過去發哥可以用超時工作/低成本來拉近與高通的差距.
但當技術差距愈縮愈小, 剩下的差距可能是因為根本的
不同造成的. 這些差距最終可能難以改變. 就看怎麼做.
另外, 我也觀察到有些印度人和大陸人雖然把工作和休假
分的很清楚, 但他們加起班來也是很拼, 這點我覺得發哥
的超時工作優勢比以前少很多.
